Masonry Work Complete & Steel Started

Concrete masonry work for the school’s new gymnasium is now complete and stands at 29 feet tall! The heavy lift of starting to place steel for the main building has also begun. It was a collaborative effort to safely coordinate where to place the crane and store the steel so our team can strategically rig it up, fly the steel to the site and put it in place. But once we did, it’s been going up fast! We’re using buckling restrained braces (BRBs) as part of this process, which are an engineering marvel. BRBs are made of concrete and steel designed to withstand lateral loadings. This material compresses and tenses up to move with the building and help absorb lateral forces in the event of an earthquake. Zone B is starting to take shape!
