Library, Lobby & Playground Nearly Ready

The countdown is on! Major finishing touches are happening across campus. One of the most exciting highlights is the installation of a vibrant, custom mural by artist Raul Urias in the lobby entrance. Created in collaboration with school staff, students and Mahlum Architects, the piece beautifully represents the Cornelius community and will provide a warm welcome to visitors.

Inside, the custom library desk and carpet tiles were installed. In the administration wing, our team wrapped up work on the 9Wood ceiling slats, cabinetry and circulation desk, with flooring to follow soon. The gym floor has already been put in place and carefully protected as finishing touches take place in that space.

Outside, new boulders in the west courtyard are slowly bringing the landscaping to life and playground equipment installations are also nearly complete. On the west side of the property, our concrete crew is grading and setting up the curb forms in preparation to pave, with the north and south sides also scheduled for paving in August.

Our team has begun working through the building systems commissioning. Additionally, we’re continuing to chip away at the landscaping and other outside work in anticipation of the upcoming opening. With a Temporary Certificate of Occupancy expected by early August, the final sprint is on—and Cornelius students’ new school is just months away from project completion.

Stay tuned for more information about the Grand Opening soon!
