Steel work is progressing steadily, and the finish line is in sight! The final main section of the school’s steel structure is being installed in Zone C, marking a significant step toward completing the building’s framework. While a few steel canopies remain, wrapping up Zone C’s steel erection will allow the team to install the last of the steel decking and transition to exterior wall framing.
Meanwhile, Zone B’s exterior wall framing is now complete! With this milestone reached, the team has started staging materials on the roof to begin installation. Additionally, MEP and FS subcontractors have begun rough-ins, setting the stage for the next phases of construction.
In Zone A, the second-floor Slab on Metal Deck (SOMD) has been poured and is now curing. Following a similar process to Zone B, a temporary heat enclosure has been set up below to maintain optimal curing conditions and ensure a strong foundation.
Last week, we had the honor of hosting a beam-signing ceremony for faculty members, students, community members, and alumni. The beam was placed outside the construction fence for easy access, and participants were given paint pens to leave their mark on this meaningful piece of the project. It was a proud moment for the school district, the community, and our team as we celebrated this exciting milestone together.
In the spirit of giving, Pence made a $500 donation to the City of Cornelius in support of the “Shop With a Cop” event, which provides holiday gifts to underprivileged children. Thanks to this contribution, three additional students were able to participate, choosing gifts for their siblings, parents, and themselves—bringing extra joy to the season. A big thank you to Project Engineer Victoria for leading this effort and making a meaningful impact in the community!
